Sommario
Once... Humans and Orcs peacefully co-existed, but at some point humans got greedy and started a war claiming the Orcs' territory. The diety-Lord who created all, got angry with the humans' greed and decided to punish them with 3 catastrophes. One of them was the "Dragons", divine creatures blessed with magic capable of doing almost anything. Now the Orcs, with a "Dragon" by their side, seem to have the upper hand. Will humans just sit back and see their land get destroyed? They are too devious for that... Their only good plan at that point is to abduct a "Dragon" to even things up. But how are they going to manage the capture of a being with so much power?

Dark Mage review
With a title like Dark Mage you may expect this manga to be about a cutesy little black mage who runs around saving people with his fireball and thunder spells. At least that is what I thought, but I was so very wrong.
Dark Mage is a Korean manhwa based off of a Korean novel. It takes place in a dark fantasy world that reminds me of Berserk. The protagonist is not handsome, nor funny. Actually he is hated by almost everyone. He was born a hunchback and is constantly viewed as a monster in the eyes of strangers. Because of this he has had to learn to defend himself physically and emotionally. If his luck wasn't bad enough, one day he gets dragged into a portal and is teleported into a new world where a whole new journey begins... Unfortunately this series has been canceled, but I still think it is worth reading what little has been released. Enjoy! |
Dark Mage review
I shan't tell the story, because the summary is already up there, and frankly, that would ruin it for you. I'll just say that the story centers around a hunchback with an attitude. It begins, I believe, in Korea, way back when, on an earth that is somewhat parallel to ours. But the main story takes place in a whole other world with fantasy creatures and magic.
I'm not especially interested in this type of manga - fantasy, dragons, fighting, etc. - but I looked into it because the cover had a guy with long red hair. Basically I wanted to see the art. I didn't begin at the first chapter but the 12... and the art stunned me. It is absolutely amazing: the art, the sequences, the action. So I read the whole thing through til the latest update. I give the art a 10. No hesitation. The story is interesting, but not highly original. There aren't any women so far that last longer than 1 chapter, but I feel that might change soon. Most of the men have long hair (about 80%), but it's not difficult to tell the differences. There isn't a inkling of romance, and thank god. If there were and it was done in a typical manga style, I'll stop reading. The art is graphic, but so far no bare skin. In overall, you oughtta read this. :3 |
