Corpse Party: Musume review
I actually wanted to try reading or watching Corpse Party but I never had the time so I haven’t yet. Although, I watched a few episodes of the gameplay from PewDiePie and while I was looking around Batoto for something to read, I stumbled upon Corpse Party yesterday. Truth is, there are several Corpse Party manga over there and I don’t know which one is the real one. So I just decided to judge them based on the cover. Then I found Corpse Party: Musume. As you can see in the cover, the girl over there is Naomi, part of the main cast. Although I
noticed that she wears a different uniform and has huge boobs (In the game, she already has big boobs but I can’t help but be more surprised in the manga.) After a few chapters until the ending, I realized that this wasn’t the original Corpse Party plot. I was really hyped up about the ending and was saying “Nooo! You can’t end it like that. I need more!”. Really, it was a neat ending but I don’t think it is the best ending you could’ve given the readers. More on this later.
PLOT – 5/10 Okay, I gave the plot 5/10 because it isn’t perfect. It’s not that there’s something as perfect, but I think there are lots of plot holes. Mainly because the events in the manga happen so quickly that you won’t get to enjoy the plot too much. If you’re looking for a manga which is more focused on giving a really dark horror story, I won’t recommend this. Yes I do admit they managed to really think of dark elements in the story but they are just small mini-stories which when you put them all together, it won’t make a great plot. Although, I’ll give credits to the real ending for making it more twisted than I expected. The real ending feels like an epilogue somehow but since it has a few chapters, I was a bit mindblown like “They’ve done it, what else could these few chapters contain? An epilogue?” then later on, I realized I shouldn’t have finished it since the ending, as I’ve said earlier, “You can’t end it like that.”. Try to guess if it was a good or bad end, but for sure you’ll get it right based on my reactions here. ART – 9.5/10 I really really really like the art. It is too detailed at points I didn’t expect it to be. I was expected it to be a bit mild in terms of gore, death, blood, panty-shots, and other scenes. I was expecting the scenes to be like Mirai Nikki, where I felt like everything is too mild for a story like that. But really, after reading this manga, I was totally like “Whoa, they didn’t hold themselves in making the art, huh?”. I was amazed on how they portrayed the scenes but as I expected, I didn’t get scared even as I read the manga all alone in the middle of the night. Yes, I don’t really get scared easily, but I once read a manga which did scare me. Probably because this manga has too many scenes for adults and panty-shots. I know this is tagged as ecchi but it is supposed to be horror, mystery, and supernatural too. You could do a lot better in terms of scaring rather than turning the readers on. I’ll still give credits to it having a few scenes giving me the chills. If you’re looking for something scary, I don’t really recommend this but if you’re looking for something to gross you out and turn you on, this is it. CAST – 8/10 I gave it an 8 out of 10 since I appreciate them giving Naomi a lot of screen time or whatever you call it. If you’re guessing that she’s my favorite character, you’re exactly right. Also, I like the surrounding dark elements in the character stories and personalities. You see, I’m a fan of dark themes/plots and I especially like it when my favorite character has a dark past, a change of heart, broken mind, or whatever. Although the cast here is kinda small, I liked it since they managed get a good background story and plot twists with regards to the characters while managing not to make them Out-of-character. I like how they acted and all. I mean, they did stuff that I totally wasn’t expecting and I really like the surprises. ENJOYMENT – 8/10 Okay, okay, I gave this an 8/10 not just because of the ecchi but because, like I said, I’m a fan of dark themes. If I did not enjoy this manga, I wouldn’t finish it in one seating. Seriously, I started reading the manga and I didn’t stop until I finished it. Probably it is because I’m always excited on what will happen next. I really enjoyed on how everything went on until the ending. Like I said, they gave me surprising stuff which I totally didn’t see coming. In the many dark stories I’ve read (mostly fanfics), there are many many stuff which are over used. But this manga, they managed to actually make me “What happened? I wasn’t expecting that! Oh no, why? How did that-!? I knew it!” and when I say things like that in my mind while watching or reading something, it means I really like the story. I was actually wishing for more but, I don’t think there will be more. Overall, its a nice alternate story for Corpse Party but it could do a lot more. It actually has potential which I’m sure will be great if they gave it more time and more thought. Goodbye now, thank you for reading. If you have any comments for this manga, please don’t hesitate to do so. I would really like to hear thoughts of other people regarding this. Also, if you have any recommendations on what should I read or watch next, please do comment. I appreciate it. Thank you guys. See you next time. |
Corpse Party: Musume review
First things first. My "reviews" system is explained on a blog entry. Which can be found through my profile.
------ ✦Story If you are informed of Corpse Party PSP games or seen Anime Ova or seen the original manga, then you won't need to know much about story. If not then read synopsis. Anyhow, while I loved original Corpse Party for its very disturbing horror element, this one takes more of an ecchi side. Which I also quit enjoyed, it was quite simplistic, lewd and certain things were actually quite kinky. That's all I can tell about story of this one. Probably the finale and some story elements were somewhat underwhelming, but aside that I enjoyed it. Though I must mention that corpse party with ecchi focus, got eventually quite disturbing as got element I despise regarding sexual things. But it would be spoiler, so cannot mention. ✦Art Very nice pantsu, lots of nice fanservice, kinky moments. Anyhow, quite liked artstyle. Now and then felt odd, but aside that quite hot. Also the "horror creatures" were also quite alright. ✦Character Well, all sort of cast. Same cast as original, so won't have to mention much. All I can say is that their persona was pretty much same, ecchi element was simply visual diffference, didn't effect most of characters personality. So yeah, varierty of stereotypes. ✦Enjoyment&Overall What can I say, wasn't as amazing as original. The disturbing horror story game/manga, but was enjoyable fanservice ride. |
Corpse Party: Musume review
the series is rushed, the time the author gives you to feel for the circumstances of the situation is very little, in which they try to compliment it with grotesque dismemberment (not for the shy of heart). the author as well tries to keep an upbeat undertone, have yet to figure if this is to say "they're can still be a happy ending" or simply to drag you back into despair for the characters. the characters are sadly simple, and easy to tell the overall worth to the author (in terms of will they die or not) only surprising part can be how often they
dodge death (i would say "to randomly die" but i've only read the trans version so far ch14). there is hardly any mystery or suspense (just leaves story ends hanging). the settings are great, generic but great, i just wish the execution was better, though i say this i am interested in how the author will end it all.
i felt uncomfortable while reading this manga; childporn is not an enjoyment at all. |
Corpse Party: Musume review
This manga was really the same a the original Corpse Party: blood covered series. It just more perverted and more blood. The changed some part of the story line and the character design. If you are going to read this manga you should really read blood covered first then read this if you want to tell the difference. (sorry for bad grammar i tried my best)

Corpse Party: Musume review
From the popular game series, Corpse Party, comes Corpse Party: Musume the manga!
As it was a good day to set up things for the school festival, it turned down as they appeared in parallel universe of their school which dates back to 1927. Plot: 7 Seems straight forward. A group of friends got struck in a 1927 version of their school and can't out. They also have to survive against the Girl in Red as they try to figure out how to get back to their world. Characters: 5 Satoshi: The protagonist that is a bit too soft on others including his little sister. Naomi: Has a crush on Satoshi and greatly concerns and protective of Yuma, Satoshi's sister. Yoshiki: Take a chill pill and keel cool. Escape now, rage later. Miyu: Cross dresser that also has a crush on Satoshi. Ayumi: Class representative. Seems to like occult topics. The Girl in Red aka Sachiko Shinozaki: Sickest and an awesome villain. Art: 8 The art work was amazing for this manga. A lot of details on the horror parts and bloody parts. Overall: 7 This manga seemed to go too fast and needs to add a little more. The horror parts seemed actually horrifying and gruesome. The characters on the other hand should be more within the plot for example, Satoshi should be more alert and observate when there is something clearly wrong.also the manga could be more serious and less perverted. |
Corpse Party: Musume review
I...I don't even know where to begin with how awful this manga was.
I guess I could start with how a lot of the deaths/general scenes of violence in this manga were very sexualized which was...rather disgusting considering a) the characters are underage, and b) some of the scenes of violence included sexual assault. I guess I could also mention how there was the whole incest aspect which, correct me if I'm wrong, I don't think was in the canon storyline for the games, much less reciprocated in a bizzare and uncomfortable way. I guess I could *also* talk about the transmisogyny in how Miyu constantly had up close shots of her genitals, was misgendered multiple times, was the first character to be killed off IIRC, and was referred to by a transmisogynistic slur at one point, which, all of this combined just felt extremely upsetting to read. Overall, this manga was just a very uncomfortable experience and I would recommend anyone wanting to get into the Corpse Party series to just skip over this one entirely. |
Corpse Party: Musume review
This is sadly my first manga review on this thing. Now I am a Corpse Party fan girl, and I enjoy a couple of adaptations of manga straying away from there conterparts in a nice AU (alternative universe ) setting. Nor do I mind fanservice as long as it doesn't make me feel uncomfortable. But this manga is a disgrace to Corpse Party and AU stories.
Story~2 Now in a way it is set up like the original at least for the first couple of chapters. Then everything goes down hill. All the characters make very dumb choices, there are very weak back stories, and some of the worst ecchi shots Ive seen thus far. This isnt canon but it really was pathetic. I dropped the manga thanks to Sachiko`s back story as to how she died . Yeah the story is 75% face palm.worthy 20%cringy and why levels and 5% meh. Characters~1 They changed the good in the characters and made them terrible. There all either bland ,garystu or mary sue like, annoying, angsty, useless ,or all of the above. What made Corpse Party great was that they cared for each other, try to go through thick and thin, develop, and sacrifice for friends. That's what made them great and likable. Here there all selfish and most of the time dont think of others. This is literally one of the worst cast of an AU Ive seen thus far. Art~7 To be positive the art is pretty and gory. It looks nice and fluent and very well drawn. Even some of the ecchi was detailed nicely. So overall the saving grace is art. Enjoyment~1 Its terrible! Even though the art is nice and cute everything else was unbearable. Worst manga I read and I dont recommend it to anyone. Stick with the games instead of this garbage. Overall~1 Its utter trash so everyone stear clear of it because youll be doing yourself a favor. |
