Sommario
"Geass" is a supernatural ability bestowed upon people who are worthy of its use. Its exact effect depends on its user's desires, but those who command it wield devastating power.
In the far away land of Area 11, formerly known as Japan, the astute 17-year-old student Lelouch Lamperouge is granted his own Geass by the mysterious woman C.C., which gives him the absolute obedience of those it is used upon. With this, Lelouch vows to destroy the only world superpower—the Holy Britannian Empire—under the guise of the revolutionary freedom-fighter Zero, to exact vengeance on those who ruined him and his family.

Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch review
Code Geass is my absolute all-time favorite anime, so when I heard that they were going to make a manga out of it, I was actually excited to read it. Boy was I disappointed.
Parts of the plot were, of course, tweaked, but the thing is, I love the anime because of all those scenes. It would've been more enjoyable if they just stuck with the anime's plot and added some extra scenes here and there. But no. My disappointment came crashing down onto me the moment the truck crash was changed into a plane crash. Most of the tweaks they did to the plot were probably for convenience and whatnot, but it really drained me and stressed me out. Not to mention the fact that Lelouch is literally my favorite character out of every character I like. They really let me down just like that. I also prefer the anime's art style way more compared to this manga's style. It just took out the character's iconic traits. This was just so underwhelming that, although I have always been a huge, huge fan of the anime, I would not give this manga a second chance. |
Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch review
These are definitely worth a read for any Code Geass fan. They give extra insight to the series and more depth to the characters. This novel series highlights a lot of the in between scenes that are referenced or mentioned in the anime. If you ever wanted to see things like more school moments, the times Lelouch and Nunnally spent at the Kururugi household, or things of that nature, I recommend the novels. The only out of character moment I can speak of is when Nunnally said "Bullshit". Of course, she was referring to the card game, but it was still quite strange.
